Being Belonging and Grace

charcoal, white parchment paper, patina on wood

Being Belonging and Grace brings the indelible presence of Black diaspora into view through an installation of gesture drawings. Together, they map spaces of habitation and embody a simple yet complex sense of being in and on the land. Charcoal sketched forms express movement and emotion, allowing us to know this presence as active. These placements position the figure as an empowered and joyful young woman, her body acting as landscape.
